Perkin Educational Opportunities Foundation (PEOF) is a non-governmental organization, registered in El Salvador as a non-profit foundation and in the USA as a public charity 501(c)3 with a focus on education for sustainable community development.
Perkin Educational Opportunities Foundation’s mission is to construct educational resources and conditions for genuine personal and community development within rural territories of El Salvador where hardworking people are trapped in a cycle of poverty. All Salvadorans deserve an opportunity to create a dignified and stable lifestyle for themselves and their family. PEOF works to support them in providing a better future, focusing on individual development as the only viable agent for true positive change and the belief that sustainable positive change can only come through individuals who have the capacity, empathy and sense of responsibility to effect these changes in and with their communities.
In 2008, PEOF began operations as a four classroom school close to the town of Perquín, in the province of Morazán, in the north-east mountains of El Salvador. The dedication and hard work of our team in El Salvador, coupled with generous financial support of our partners has converted this “school project” into the robust sustainable community development program it is today, with an ever-widening reach and positive impact within the territory.
